Meat Goat Show Wethers
Pictures of our 2008 crop are shown at the bottom of the page.
Our Boer/Nubian meat goat show wethers are typically 75% to 87% Boer.  We have found that this percentage usually results in the best animal for feeding  for a market class.

Our wethers are usually born in mid-March to mid-April.  This allows us to offer wethers that will qualify for the major shows in the winter and spring.  Our wethers have also done very well in the light-weight classes at the State Fair of Texas (early Oct. show date).

Have you ever attended one of those wether auctions?  I bet the one that you really wanted (you know, the one that everybody else wanted too!) sold for about $1500-$1800.  There might have been a couple of other good ones, but all the rest were pretty ordinary.

All of our wethers are sold by private treaty here at the farm after we have culled the bottom one/third.  We contact our previous customers and any new customers that have inquired about wethers when we are ready to offer them for sale.  This usually occurs about the end of June.  We set the date and time when the wethers are offered.  First come, first pick!  Nothing is sold off the top.  Everyone has an opportunity to buy the best.  Our prices range from $500.00 to $300.00 depending on the quality of the animal.  We also offer feeder goat companions for $100.00.  Sometimes these companion goats will also do  very well in the showring.  One of our repeat customers won Middle Weight Champion with one of our $100.00 companion feeder goats at the 2007 Ellis County Show!  Now that is a good return on a miminum investment!

All wethers have been vaccinated and wormed prior to sale.  Our wethers are disbudded at 2 weeks of age and we castrate at 6-8 weeks to avoid urethral stenosis.  Our goats are penned and fed on a nightly basis so they have regular contact with humans. After weaning, wethers are fed twice daily and are handled regularly.  This means that our wethers are quite tame compared to most raised on open pastures.  Exhibitors will have a project that is easier to train and the animal is less likely to harm itself due to fear.

We will sell you a good show prospect. Then your work begins.  No wether will make it to the winner's circle without a good feeding and exercise program.  Thank you for your interest in our website.
